What Happened

Authorities have information on a two-vehicle crash that killed two people at US 84 in Lubbock, TX on December 9th, 2023. Officials are saying it happened around 7:22 p.m. According to investigators, a Mercedes-Benz E Class, operated by a 24-year-old Lubbock, TX man, was northbound on Ave Q. Traveling westbound on 58th St was a Toyota Yaris acting as a Uber vehicle. Reports indicate the Mercedes collided with the Toyota at the intersection, forcing both vehicles into the parking lot of a nearby business. Both vehicles struck other vehicles in the parking lot, those vehicles unoccupied at the time of the collisions. The crash left the driver of the Uber, identified as 41-year-old Angela Bray and her 23-year-old passenger, Rodrigo Torres, fatally injured. The Lubbock man was seriously injured, police say. Reports show a Driving While Intoxicated charge was recommended and/or issued against the Lubbock man. Additional information was not provided.
