What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a driver at FM 1988 in Polk County, TX on July 30th, 2021. Officials say the incident happened around 10:10 p.m. A Ford Ranger operated by 61-year-old Ronnie Arnold was headed southbound on FM 1988 as it approached a curve in the road. Investigators allege the vehicle was traveling at a speed that was unsafe to take the curve and veered from the road. The vehicle attempted to correct back onto the road and ended up traveling into the path of and colliding with a Lexus operated by a 48-year-old male. Both that driver and his 47-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries. Arnold was more seriously injured.
