What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a collision that injured a driver at TX 49 in Marion County, TX on November 24th, 2021. Officials are saying it happened around 2:42 a.m. A Chevrolet Malibu operated by 27-year-old Ronnie Earl Durden is believed to have been headed northwest on TX 49 when, according to reports, it swerved to avoid a deer in the road. The vehicle first collided with a pair of trees before spinning into a ditch. Durden suffered serious injuries in the crash. Responding officers allege that Durden admitted to consuming alcohol prior to the crash and believed him to not be intoxicated during the crash. Reports indicate No Driver License When Unlicensed-CDL and No Seatbelt-Driver charges were recommended and/or issued.
