What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed one person involved at State Hwy 21 in Cherokee County, TX on October 28th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 9 p.m. According to investigators, a Chevrolet Tahoe was southwest bound on State Hwy 21 when an ATV turned onto State Hwy 21. Sources say driver visibly was was impaired on the part of the Tahoe operator, leading to the vehicle colliding with the rear of the ATV. The impact caused the driver of the ATV, identified as 36-year-old Ronterreal Mumphrey, to be ejected from the vehicle. Officials say Mumphrey suffered fatal injuries. The driver of the Tahoe, identified as 71-year-old Marga Skinner Johnson, was transported for evaluation of unknown injuries. Additional information was not available.
