What Happened

Authorities have information on a crash that injured a driver at State Hwy 155 in Smith County, TX on August 4th, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 4:45 p.m. According to investigators, a Jeep Grand Cherokee was northbound on Hwy 155 prior to allegedly entering onto the opposite side of the road in a no pass zone. From there, reports say the vehicle collided with a southbound Chevrolet Silverado before spinning and making contact with a Mazda 6. Reports indicate the driver of the Chevrolet, identified as 74-year-old Rose Maxey, was seriously injured. Her two passengers, ages 76 and 53 allegedly had less serious injuries, as did the driver of the Mazda. Reports did not publicly identify the victims or the driver of the Jeep, age 33, who suffered fatal injuries in the crash. Additional information was not available.
