What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured three people at US 87 in Gillespie County, TX on February 25th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 6:15 a.m. Investigators say the incident involved a tractor-trailer operated by 48-year-old Roy Rogelio Martinez was headed northbound while a Penske moving truck operated by a 32-year-old San Antonio man was headed southbound. Police believe the Penske driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel, causing it to veer into the path of the tractor-trailer. Both vehicles collided head-on and Martinez and his passenger, 46-year-old Vicky Torres Martinez, were both killed. The San Antonio woman was also killed. Additional information was not available.
