What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed a motorcyclist at Gateway Blvd in El Paso, TX on May 21st, 2021. A Kia Forte operated by 26-year-old Jhair Hassim Acosta collided with the rear of a motorcycle that was stopped at a red light. The driver, 36-year-old Ruben Chavez Jr, was ejected from the bike and pronounced dead at the scene. The Kia then fled the scene and was lated located not far from the scene. Police placed Acosta under a rest on a charge of Intoxication Manslaughter and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
