What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed a person and injured a driver at Dumas Ave and 5th St in Dumas, TX on June 20th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 11:12 p.m. A Chevrolet Silverado operated by 22-year-old Christopher Alvidrez was headed northbound when it struck a curb. The vehicle overcorrected into another curb on a southbound side private drive. This caused the vehicle to lost control and struck farm equipment and a parking lot divider, sending it airborne. From there it then rolled and ejected a passenger, 33-year-old Ruben Terrazas, before landing and striking Terrazas. After being pinned between the vehicle and a building, Terrazas succumbed to his injuries. at the scene. Alvidrez was seriously injured and hospitalized. Additional information was not available.
