What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a driver at US 380 in Princeton, TX on August 14th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 6:22 p.m. Investigators say a Dodge Ram 1500 operated by 45-year-old Stephen Cooke was being pursued by police when it made a turn onto County Road 490, striking a Subaru Crosstrek waiting at the stop sign. The Crosstrek driver, 48-year-old Ryan Hampton, was seriously injured when the vehicle was pushed from the road in the collision into a drainage ditch. The Dodge left the scene and was later located by police. Cooke was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Accident Involving Serious Bodily Injury.
