What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured two people at Lamar Blvd in Austin, TX on April 24th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 3:17 a.m. According to investigators, a Jeep Wrangler operated by 27-year-old Jose Marcedo Lopez was headed southbound when it began drifting across the road into northbound lanes. It then crashed head-on into a Nissan Pathfinder operated by 27-year-old Salvador Gonzalez Diaz. Both Diaz and a 33-year-old passenger suffered serious injuries. Officers allege that both drivers may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash and reports indicate a charge of Intoxication Assault was recommended and/or issued against Lopez.
