What Happened

Area authorities have information on a crash that killed a driver at US 287 in Wichita County, TX on November 27th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 3 a.m. A Dodge Ram operated by 21-year-old Samuel De Leon Jr was headed southbound on US 287 when it veered from the road into a barrow ditch. While attempting to correct back onto the road, the vehicle reportedly went into a side-skid across a center grass median and rolled to the left. De Leon, who investigators allege was not restrained in the vehicle, was ejected from the truck and suffered fatal injuries at the scene. Investigators suspect alcohol may have played a part in the crash.
