What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured two people at South 14th St in Abilene, TX on June 11th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 10:20 p.m. According to investigators, a motorcycle operated by 56-year-old Scottie Mendez Jr was headed westbound on 14th St when it reportedly failed to control its speed and struck the ground withe side of the vehicle, causing it to slide into a Chevrolet Trailblazer. A second motorcycle attempted to avoid the collision and also slid to the ground, that driver suffering minor injuries. Mendez was more seriously injured. No one in the Trailblazer was reportedly injured. Records indicate a charge of Driving While Intoxicated was recommended and/or issued against Mendez.
