What Happened

Harris County Sheriff's Office authorities are investigating a crash that killed one person at Sheldon Rd in Harris County, TX on September 16th, 2024. Police say the incident involved a Ford F-150 headed westbound lost control and left the roadway. From there, reports say the vehicle traveled through an embankment into northbound lanes, colliding with a Ford Fiesta. The impact caused the driver of the Fiesta, identified as 21-year-old Sebastian Benitez-Mendoza, to be ejected from the vehicle. Benitez-Mendoza was hospitalized with injuries he later died from. The other driver, identified as 49-year-old Joaquin Compean-Juarez, was allegedly arrested under suspicion of intoxication. Additional information was not immediately available.
