What Happened

Killeen Police have information on a hit-and-run collision hat killed a soldier at Elms Rd in Killeen, TX on June 11th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 2:30 a.m. as 28-year-old Staff Sgt. Eric Rucker was retrieving a retrieving a fallen item in the roadway. Investigators say Rucker had been traveling via motorcycle with a second person and both were stopped whole attempting to pick the fallen item up from the roadway. That is when police say Tucker was struck by a passing vehicle that did not remain at the scene following the collision. Sgt. Rucker suffered fatal injuries and police are currently searching for the driver involved.
