What Happened

Texas Peace Officers have information on a crash that injured a driver at McCormick Rd and Ortega Rd in Randall County, TX on September 23rd, 2021. Officials say the incident happened around 6 p.m. A tractor-trailer operated by a 47-year-old Amarillo man was completing a left tun onto Ortega Rd when it was struck by a Chevrolet Aveo operated by 20-year-old Stormy Young. Investigators say the trailer had not yet cleared the intersection when it was struck and say that Young allegedly told them she had been returning a phone to her 3-year-old that was in a rear car seat at the time of impact. She suffered minor injuries but refused medical transport and her child was not injured. The truck driver was not injured and was cited for Failure to Yield Right of Way-Turning Left.
