What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured a driver at Methvin St in Longview, TX on May 13th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 2 a.m. According to investigators, a Dodge Charger operated by 22-year-old Hunter Tigert was going southbound on Methvin St prior to veered from the road at a curve. The vehicle traveled airborne after striking a curb before landing and crashing into a brick building. A passenger in the vehicle, identified as 23-year-old Sydney Van Rijn, suffered fatal injuries in the crash. Both the driver and a second passenger had injuries believed to be non-life-threatening in nature. Officers recommended and/or issued a charge of Intoxication Manslaughter.
