What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured a teen at State Hwy 11 in Wood County, TX on September 2nd, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 4:30 p.m. According to investigators, a Ford F-150 operated by a 66-year-old Leesburg man was eastbound on Hwy 11, turning left into a parking lot. The vehicle is alleged to have failed to control its speed before striking the rear of a a Chevrolet Sonic that had just parked. The impact from the collision caused the vehicle to travel forward, striking a 15-year-old pedestrian walking on a curbed sidewalk near the vehicle. Officials say the teen had serious injuries while the occupants of the Chevrolet were evaluated for possible injuries. The driver of the Ford was alleged to have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. Sources indicate an Intoxication Assault charge was recommended and/or issued against the driver.
