Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed a teen at US 59 in Panola County, TX on June 3rd, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 3:17 p.m. According to investigators, a Toyota Tundra is alleged to have possibly failed to yield while entering onto US 59 at the intersection with FM 1794. The truck was struck on the passenger side by an 18-wheeler, leaving a 15-year-old passenger in the Toyota with fatal injuries at the scene. The driver of the Toyota, identified as 51-year-old Chad Wynn, was hospitalized with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening in nature. Police say the truck driver was not injured in the collision and did not have additional information to disclose.
