What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a collision that killed a teen at US 59 in Livingston, TX on December 7th, 2023. Reports allege the incident happened around 4:15 p.m. Reports say a school bus for Livingston ISD was stopped in or near a northbound lane as a 15-year-old student was exiting. Reports continue to say an 18-wheeler headed northbound collided with a car stopped behind the bus for unclear reasons.  Following this, police say the truck went right where it struck the 15-year-old in a nearby driveway. It was stated by officials the bus was stopped at a designated stop and had active emergency lighting at the time. The teen, who was not publicly identified, suffered fatal injuries in the crash. The truck operator was identified s 41-year-old Gregory Jackson, police say. Reports indicate Jackson was arrested on a Criminally Negligent Homicide charge.
