What Happened

Authorities in Galveston, TX, are investigating a fatal two-vehicle collision that occurred on January 1, 2025, at approximately 1:02 a.m. on State Highway 87. A 2010 Ford Edge, allegedly driven by a 58-year-old male, failed to maintain a single lane and collided head-on with a 2019 Toyota Highlander traveling in the opposite direction. The Ford driver sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Four occupants in the Toyota, ages 19, 55, 54, and 30, sustained serious injuries and were transported to a nearby medical facility. Contributing factors included failure to drive in a single lane. The investigation is ongoing.
