What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a driver at I-20 in Abilene, TX on January 11th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 1:24 p.m. A Nissan Sentra operated by 28-year-old Tracy Scott Cannon was headed eastbound in an inside lane of I-20 while a tractor-trailer operated by a 57-year-old Muleshoe man was eastbound stopped behind other vehicles in traffic. Investigators say the Sentra failed to control its speed and collided with the rear of a the stopped truck. The impact caused the Sentra to fish tail to the right and hit a guardrail before bouncing off and striking it again. Cannon suffered serious injuries while the truck driver was uninjured. Records indicate a charge of Failure to Control Speed was recommended and/or issued.
