What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials have information on a crash at RM 12 in Hays County, TX on January 22nd, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 11:07 p.m. A Toyota Tundra operated by a 39-year-old Wimberley man was headed southbound on RM 12 as a Suzuki Sidekick operated by 26-year-old Trey Lentschke was headed northbound. Investigators say the Toyota veered from the road onto the shoulder and traveled for 200 feet before traveling across a double yellow line and collided with the left side of the Sidekick SUV. Both Lentschke and his passenger, 31-year-old Amelia Ybarra, were killed in the collision. The other driver reportedly suffered serious injuries. Police allege he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
