What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured two people at US 80 and County Rd 1712 in Van Zandt County, TX on June 14th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 4:20 a.m. According to investigators, a GMC Suburban operated by a 23-year-old Canton man was headed westbound on US 80 before it veered from its lane into a center median. The vehicle attempted to correct back onto the road before it overturned into a north barrow ditch. A 21-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries. The driver, who police allege admitted to consuming alcohol, suffered serious injuries. Reports show a Failure to Drive in Single Lane charge was recommended and/or issued.
