Authorities have information on a crash that killed one person involved at I-610 in Houston, TX on January 14th, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 1:35 a.m. According to investigators, a Nissan Sentra headed southbound is said to have pulled into a shoulder. Reports allege the driver and a passenger were engaged and an argument prior to the vehicle pulling into the shoulder. Reports further allege the passenger, identified as 25-year-old Tyriq Mosley Smith, exited the vehicle and was allegedly attempting to cross the freeway as a Mercedes-Benz E400 approached. Sources say Smith was struck by the approaching Mercedes-Benz, suffering fatal injuries at the scene. Police say 19-year-old Nissan operator, Chrishaun Dontez Johnson, was arrested on a Driving While Intoxicated charge. The Mercedes-Benz operator, who was not publicly identified, allegedly did not display signs of intoxication and was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
