What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a driver at I-10 in Culberson County, TX on May 23rd, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 7 p.m. A Chevrolet Cruze operated by a 27-year-old Valente Chavez reportedly hydroplaned while traveling around 80 mph. The vehicle lost control and veered into a guardrail before spinning back into traffic lanes. It was then struck by an approaching tractor-trailer operated by a 34-year-old Las Vegas man. Chaves suffered serious injuries in the crash while the Las Vegas man was not injured.
