Police say the incident happened around 12:18 a.m. According to investigators, a Volkswagen Jetta operated by 30-year-old El Paso was westbound on Pebble Hills before losing control for unconfirmed reasons. The vehicle ended up veering to the right, swapping a tree before colliding head-on with a second tree. The El Paso man was seriously injured, authorities allege. Authorities also say a passenger, identified as 41-year-old Veronica Guerrero, had non-life-threatening injuries. Sources indicate a Driving While Intoxicated charge was recommended and/or issued.
