What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a collision that killed a person at I-10 in Houston, TX on August 1st, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 2:32 a.m. A Mercedes operated by 32-year-old Victor Arise was reportedly involved in a prior crash that left it disabled in a travel lane. Sometime after, an approaching Infiniti operated by 35-year-old Brittany Bennett collided with the vehicle, causing fatal injuries to Arise. Investigators allege that possible intoxication on Arise's part and a failure to control speed on Bennett's part played factors in the crash.
