What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a driver at FM 1925 in Hidalgo County, TX on October 1st, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 5:40 p.m. A Chevrolet Malibu operated by 28-year-old Victor Elizondo was traveling eastbound on FM 1925 as it approached a stopped vehicle ahead preparing to make a left turn. Investigators say that the passenger, 33-year-old Heriberto Elizondo III allegedly took the wheel and forced it right to avoid colliding with the vehicle. The action is said to have sent the vehicle into a ditch where it struck a metal pole and shed. Victor Elizondo, who is accused of being under the influence of alcohol, was seriosly injured. Heriberto Elizondo was reportedly not injured.
