What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured at least three people at US 281 in Erath County, TX on November 20th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 7:57 p.m. According to investigators, a Dodge Ram 1500 operated by 36-year-old Timothy Peoples was headed southbound on US 281 behind a Chevrolet C1500 that was slowing to turn onto County Rd 185. The Dodge is alleged to have failed to control its speed, attempting to veer left before colliding with the rear of the Dodge. The impact caused the Dodge to overturn and the Chevrolet to skid into a chain link fence. The driver of the Dodge, identified as 53-year-old Victoria Belman, was seriously injured. Two passengers under the age of 10 had minor injuries. Peoples was not injured and officers recommended and/or issued charges that include Intoxication Assault, Unlawful Carrying of Weapon and Possession of Marijuana.
