Police say the incident happened around 8:55 p.m. According to investigators, a Ford Escape operated by 49-year-old Vincent Smith was headed westbound on FM 2767 when it collided with an overturned tree. Investigators allege the vehicle had been traveling at an unsafe speed during a thunderstorm and the collision caused Smith serious injuries.
