What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials identified the person killed in a crash at State Hwy 48 near Port Isabel, TX on June 25th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 2:28 a.m. and named 18-year-old Vladimir Damian Martinez as the victim. According to investigators, a Mercedes-Benz operated by Martinez was headed eastbound prior to losing control at a curve in the roadway. The vehicle is said to have traveled through a shoulder an into a grassy area before overturning. The collision caused Martinez to be ejected from the vehicle, caused fatal injuries.
