What Happened

Harris County Sheriff's Office authorities are investigating a crash that killed a pedestrian at Wallisville Rd in Harris County, TX on May 9th, 2023. Police say it happened around 11:45 p.m. Investigators say a man standing in or near the roadway was struck by what they believe was black pickup truck traveling eastbound. Following the collision, driver of the truck fled the scene, leaving the man behind. Police go on to say witnesses at the scene located an officer nearby and the officers vehicle also struck the man, who was still in the roadway. The victim was identified as Wesley Smith, who was confirmed to have died in the incident. Authorities are currently searching for the suspect driver.
