What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a person at State Hwy 103 in San Augustine County, TX in January 3rd, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 5:56 p.m. A tractor-trailer operated by 50-year-old Billy Thomas was reportedly attempting to reverse into a private driver when it was struck by an approaching Chevrolet Silverado. Investigators say the truck did not have side lights or visible reflectors on the trailer. The driver of the Silverado, 51-year-old Whitt Smith, suffered minor injuries. Thomas was evaluated for possible injuries. Records show No Defective Side Markers, Operate Road Tractor and Back So As To Interfere or Without Safety charges were filed.
