Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed a woman at Hwy 155 and Mulberry Rd in Upshur County, TX on December 13th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 6:30 a.m. Investigators say a school bus was stopped with active lighting waiting to pick up a child. Reports say the mother of the child was standing near the bus when a pickup truck operated by Jimmy Lee Hewitt failed to stop and struck the woman under unclear circumstances. The woman suffered fatal injuries at the scene, reports. Reports also say Hewitt was arrested on a manslaughter charge. Additional information was not available.
