What Happened

Area authorities have begun investigating a collision that left two people dead at TX 73 in Port Arthur, TX on June 5th, 2023. Investigators believe the crash occurred just before midnight and say it involved an 18-wheeler and Dodge Charger. They allege the 18-wheeler tanker-style truck collided with the rear of the Dodge at the intersection with West Port Arthur Rd before overturning. Part of the Dodge was crushed in the crash, leaving two adults with fatal injuries at the scene. They were identified as 29-year-old Yasmin Torres Coca and 30-year-old Alan Garcia Calvard. Two other adults and one teen boy were hospitalized with undisclosed injuries. Officials say the 18-wheeler operator may not have been injured and had no additional information to share.
