What Happened

State Police identified the person killed in a collision on I-81 in Wythe County, VA on January 19th, 2023. Officers say 28-year-old Isaac Petersheim was headed northbound in a tractor-trailer that veered from the road for unclear reasons. It struck second truck parked in a shoulder before veering from the road and overturning. Petersheim suffered fatal injuries at the scene. The other driver, 45-year-old Edward Opoku, was not injured.
