What Happened

Virginia State Police are investigating a crash that killed one person involved at I-495 in Fairfax County, VA on November 9th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 12:20 a.m. Officials are saying a Honda Accord was westbound on I-495, partially in a shoulder and lane of travel simultaneously. Investigator believe a westbound tractor-trailer struck the rear of Honda, both vehicles veering from the road into a nearby retaining wall. The crash left the driver of the Honda, 40-year-old Nicole M. Lewis, with fatal injuries. The tractor-trailer operator, 30-year-old Yves Civil, was reportedly uninjured.
