What Happened

State Police are investigating a crash that killed a person at I-95 in Richmond, VA on May 30th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 9:45 a.m. According to their investigation, a Ford Mustang was headed northbound when it swerved from the road into a guardrail. It then veered across multiple travel lanes before crashing head-on into a barrier wall. The impact sent the vehicle backward where it was then struck by an oncoming tractor-trailer and pushed into a wooded area. The driver of the Mustang, identified as 73-year-old William Melville Wash Jr, died at the scene. The truck driver was not injured. Additional information was not immediately available.
