What Happened

Washington State Patrol officials are investigating a crash that killed a teen at US Hwy 195 in Whitman County, WA on November 16th, 2024. Officials are saying the incident happened around 7:20 a.m. According to investigators, a tractor-trailer headed southbound on Hwy 195 is alleged to have lost control on the icy roadway. From there, reports say the vehicle jackknifed in northbound lanes, into the path of an approaching Mazda CX-50. Officials say the vehicles collided before there were additional collisions involving other vehicles. Authorities say a passenger in the Mazda, age 13, was hospitalized with injuries he later died from. The driver, identified as 44-year-old Stephen Bischoff, was hospitalized with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening. Reprots claim there were no other injuries and charges may be pending against the tractor-trailer.
