What Happened

Lafayette County Sheriff's Office authorities are investigating a crash that killed one person at WI 81 in Lafayette County, WI on June 19th, 2023. Police believe it happened around 3:09 a.m. According to investigators, an Amish horse-drawn buggy was headed eastbound at the time on WI 81. Police say the buggy was struck from the rear by a semi-truck operated by 39-year-old Pavel Ivanovich Gritskan, ejecting the two occupants of the buggy. One occupant, identified as 19-year-old Frannie King, suffered fatal injuries at the scene. The other, identified as 30-year-0ld Samuel King, was hospitalized with undisclosed injuries. Police say Gritskan was not injured and did not disclose additional details.
