What Happened

State Police are investigating a crash that killed four people at I-39 in Vienna, WI on January 6th, 2022. Investigators believe the crash happened around 10:15 p.m. They go on to say that a Chevrolet Uplander operated by 36-year-old Alexis Hudson pulled over to a shoulder lane of I-39 to assist a motorist with a disabled vehicle. Following this, as the van was pulling back onto the interstate it was struck by a pair of semi-trucks operated by 25-year-old Mitchell Zimmerman and 61-year-old Dwayne Hajek. Hudson and three other occupants were all killed in the collision. The other occupants were identified as 26-year-old Shawn Thurston, 39-year-old Ryan L Murch and 18-year-old David R. Celmer. Nether semi-truck driver was injured. Additional details were not available.
