What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured two people at FM 1746 in Tyler, TX on June 2nd, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 3:10 p.m. According to investigators, a commercial truck operated by a 41-year-old Pineland, TX man was headed westbound on FM 1746 while a Kia Optima operated by 79-year-old James Russell Johnson  was headed eastbound. Police say the commercial truck went onto the wrong side of the road before veering from the road and going through the woods after colliding with the Kia. Johnson suffered minor injuries. The Pineland man was more seriously injured. Officers suggested the possibility that the Pineland man suffered a medical emergency contributing to the crash.
