What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a woman at State Hwy 35 in San Patricio County, TX on March 15th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 7:55 p.m. Investigators say a Lexus IS operated by 24-year-old Alexis Cantu was headed southbound on Hwy 35 at an alleged high rate of speed. The vehicle is said to have somehow lost control before veering into a guardrail and overturn from the road. A 7-year-old passenger was evaluated for possible injuries while a 23-year-old passenger was seriously injured. Cantu was also evaluated for possible injuries and records indicate charges for Driving While Intoxicated and Intoxication Assault were recommended and/or issued.
