What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed one person at I-40 in Carson County, TX on May 4th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 7:10 a.m. According to investigators, a Ford Excursion is said to have veered from the road into a ditch. The impact caused the vehicle to travel airborne before it landed and overturned onto its roof. The driver, identified as 58-year-old Pelatia Trujillo, was killed. 19-year-old Trystiana Trujillo and three child passengers were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
