Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed a man at US 81 near Alford, TX on May 17th, 2023. Police say the incident happened when a Chevrolet Malibu collided with a Honda Fit that was reportedly disabled. Officials say the vehicle was partially in a northbound lane of travel at the time of the collision while the Malibu was headed northbound. The driver of the Honda, identified as 50-year-old James Charles Coates, was killed. The other driver, identified as 28-year-old Michael Jeffrey Meyers, was hospitalized with undisclosed injuries.
