What Happened

California Highway Patrol officials are investigating a crash that killed a woman at Hwy 99 in Sacramento, CA on August 21st, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 2:20 p.m. Officials say a passenger vehicle was traveling northbound behind a dump truck that was slowing for traffic. Officials say the vehicle collided with the rear of the dump truck under unclear circumstances, leaving the driver of the Toyota with suspected serious injuries. A passenger, a 22-year-old woman who was not publicly identified, suffered fatal injuries. Two child passengers were not injured and police say alcohol was not suspected to be a factor in the crash.
