What Happened

Austin Police are investigating a crash that killed one person at FM 812 in Austin, TX on November 5th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 5:33 a.m. According to investigators, a vehicle operated by 24-year-old Maximiliano Hernandez Cervantes was allegedly traveling on the wrong side of the road in a no-passing zone prior to crashing. Reports say his vehicle collided with one operated by 39-year-old Nereyda Bueno Figueroa, the collision leaving Figueroa with fatal injuries. Her 14-year-old passenger had injuries believed to be non-life-threatening, as did Cervantes, reports say. Sources indicate a charge of Intoxication Manslaughter was recommended and/or issued against Cervantes.
