What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed a motorcyclist at US 87 in Dumas, TX on December 30th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 5:39 p.m. Investigators are saying a motorcycle, operated by 24-year-old Ravi Patel, was southbound on Dumas Ave. After waiting for traffic to clear, reports say a Kia Telluride previously stopped on Dumas Ave proceeded to make a left turn. As it did so, motorcycle collided with the side of the vehicle, ejecting Patel from the motorcycle. Report say Patel was fatally injured while the occupants of the Kia were uninjured. Reports also allege the Kia may have failed to yield to the approaching motorcycle prior to the collision.
