What Happened

Authorities are investigating a crash that injured two people at FM 493 and Mile 13 in Hidalgo County, TX on January 15th, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 2:50 a.m. According to investigators, a Chevrolet Silverado was northbound on FM 493 before losing control for unclear reasons. Reports say the vehicle overturned into a group of trees, the crash leaving 41-year-old passenger, Eliene Medina Villegas,  seriously injured. The driver, a 39-year-old Donna man who was not publicly identified, allegedly had minor injuries. Reports indicate a Driving While Intoxicated charge was recommended and/or issued.
