What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed one person involved at US 69 in Leonard, TX on August 4th, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 12:49 p.m. According to investigators, a Dodge Ram 1500 headed northbound on US Hwy 69 in a no pass zone, allegedly at a high rate of speed. Reports say the vehicle was unable to return to the roadway as a Ford Escape came around a hill. Authorities say the Dodge collided with the Ford, the collision leaving 36-year-old F0rd operator, Jonathan Standerfer, fatally injured.
